keep holding on

in all this merriment,
i see a sad, long, tired face
and from what i read and hear
my dear friends and family
i wish that my arms were long enough to embrace you all
i wish that my shoulders were broad enough to carry all your pain
i wish that my heart was big enough to feel all your ache
it saddens me to see all your pain
and so all the little gestures of love from greetings to gifts
i hope you take to heart
and remember that there's someone out there who cares
but more importantly,
to keep holding on
as greater, overwhelming gestures of love are still awaiting us
