confessions, reflections, obsessions, revelations
a few days ago, someone noted that the music i like is somewhat depressing
interesting comment that's has since been lingering in the recesses of my mind
so, i made a little mental inventory of the music i listen to
confessions:
i listen to celine dion, dixie chicks, coldplay, david gray, sarah mclachlan, chantal kreviasuk, switchfoot, lifehouse, howie day, U2, jack johnson, rob thomas, james blunt, michael buble, josh groban, queen, smashing pumpkins and recently snow patrol to name a few
reflection:
the music i like is too emotional and depressing with really no meaningful message
obsessions:
i guess i'm obsessed with sad music talking about being alone, looking for unrequited love, being lost.
revelations:
1. most music is depressing. hence, the music i listen to is no reflection of who i am but rather a sign of mass propaganda to sadden people so that anything bad that happens in the world can't be that bad since your personal turmoil will make you a self-centred individual who couldn't care less about the world around them. hmmm, maybe that's why the middle east is something that never seemed to be of any importance to me.
2. i need to broaden my musical tastes because as evidenced by my list, i really don't have any taste.
3. it's always best to have 3 points rather than 2 to give the impression that your argument is stronger than it actually is.

"3. it's always best to have 3 points rather than 2 to give the impression that your argument is stronger than it actually is." Thanks for this invaluable point making tip, I shall definitely make good use of it.
what about travis? why does it always rain on me? haha jack johnson is definitely not the depressing kind of music...haha...i think you have a good mix in there...definitely agree with the self centred wallowing we do to ourselves...when i got the lifehouse cd...it was devastating...haha

oh yes, how could i have forgotten travis. oh, the endless hours of self centred pity with driftwood playing in the background. jack johnson is depressing, isn't he? haha. i remember walking in a blizzard and not even really noticing it because sarah mclachlan's ice was playing. how ironic. i was lost in my own thoughts and worries. hmm, music certainly marks moments in my life. what does that say about my life now and snow patrol? i guess i just want to lay down ...
