Countdown Guatemala

3 weeks to hopefully an adventure of a lifetime. My dearest friend and I are off to Guatemala to do something I've always wanted to do - volunteer health relief work.
You hear about these things all the time. The idealistic part of me, that part that still believes in world peace and brotherly love, hopes that this adventure will deliver. Deliver in the sense that we'll walk away more humbled, more educated, more empathetic, more driven to do God's work. So often I'm disillusioned by the apathy, the self-loathing and the self-infatuation everywhere, especially within me. So much so that it worries me to think I would want to bring another life into this world.
(deep breath in)...forging on. Can hardly wait.

Good for you KhaiNhu! I'm definately going to do something like that one day, once I graduate. I'm sure it will be an awesome, rewarding experience. Treating patients who desperately need your care will be a change from Canada I think.
