i'm lying in a square room full of women all trying to contort their bodies into poses with fancy names like downward dog (i wonder if dogs look at their knees when they're in this position. do dogs even have knees?)
the lights are dimmed but i can still make out these two dark holes in the ceiling perhaps for some screws that ended up never needing to be screwed. i'm lying there noticing how still those two holes are and wishing i could be just as still. to be always in that same position as days pass by and people come and go without a second's notice of my existence.
the instructor is talking in this very monotone voice. i guess she's trying to soothe our restless souls.
the 45mins pass by quickly and soon i'm back in the bustle of the late hour gym clientele. i make my way back to the washroom as that's always my first stop. astoundingly, i notice no one from the class follows suit and i can't imagine why. all those teeming microbes from those mats that no one wipes down. i guess people like to take more than a workout home with them.
i'm walking in the night air. it's brisk and i'm watching all the cars whiz by. the night is clear and i can see some stars strewn amongst the lights from airplanes (i've never noticed stars when i'm in a plane). with music ringing in my ears, the cars almost look like they're dancing as they speed up, change lanes.
i make my way to the local coffee shop. busy as usual. i order tea with warm milk as i don't want to stay up all night. the tea ends up tasting more like just warm milk. i grab a used newspaper and find an uncomfortable seat to sit in as all the comfy seats are taken. plan was to read a bit of news, drink the tea and let the boredom of local news and warm milk act as a sedative. unfortunately, i had grabbed the local sports section so my repose was quickly ended as i have no interest, not even enough to fane some interest, in local sports. i give up this venture and take my warm milk back out into the night.
making my way back to my place, i pass a street that i've passed a hundred times before. "solution" was its name. i imagine how nice it would be if just by walking down this street, all your problems could be answered.
i'm standing in the shower, the water's pounding down my back. i'm thinking why the colour hasn't changed since it often does for a few days after a colouring.
and now i'm in front of my computer. warm milk is cold. classical music is playing in the background and i can't seem to sleep. the insomnia's come back. i guess as my time here dwindles, i have a lot on my mind. too many things have loose ends and that unsettles me.
a lot of people around me have been asking me lately if i feel excited about my upcoming move. to be quite frank, no. i don't like this chaos even though i know it'll soon pass. i just feel like i need to hide away just for a day and let my mind settle down just for a moment. no interruptions. no talking. just a nice long walk. maybe, too much to ask of a world spinning out of control

excellent post. feel like i'm there with you. I remember doing yoga as a kid with my mom...before it caught on as a "cool-thing-to-do" Maybe you did too, as you have asian roots. yum, my absolute favourite is milk with a little tea in it. I am one of those who like to linger in gym bugs...I say a little regular filth makes you stronger.

These last 2 days I've been meaning to call, but due to time difference, when I have time to finally call it's too late on your side of the country. Can't wait until you're back in EST. I know you feel ikky about all the upcoming change and everything, but I, as you know, am selfishly, greedily, giddy happy for it.
